How did you discover LHLA?

From IMATS LA!

What is your favorite LHLA product?

I Love all your glitters, but I really love me some White Rabbit Luxe and Birthday Bitch Spacejam!

I’m visiting your hometown where am I headed and what should I see/do?

I’m a proud Minnesotan! There is so much to see and do!  I would tell you to visit Paisley Park, home of Prince! Go Antique shopping and have lunch in Stillwater along the St. Croix river, it’s so beautiful this time of year.

Catch a Vikings game, Tour the “haunted” Glensheen Mansion, visit downtown Minneapolis.. The Minneapolis Institute of Art museum.  I could go on and on.. lol. I love Minnesota!

In your kit what product is the OG and what product is the new kid?

My OG fav are my Cinema Secrets Ultimate Concealer palettes, and my new are the Pat McGrath Labs eyeshadow palettes!

Favorite location in LA to shoot?

Many different places! It’s hard to choose just one. Los Angeles has so much to offer.. I love the ocean, the desert, downtown the historic deco buildings.

What is the hardest thing for you as a makeup artist?

To not be to critical of my work.. my attention to detail has been both a blessing and a curse. Lol

How do you find inspiration?

Art museums, Music, the ballet, Nature.. from my everyday surroundings!

What advice would you go back in time and give yourself?

Lose that fear.. Don’t be afraid to fail. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, There is only 1 of you, and you are unique!

When you’re not working what is most important to you?

Spending time with family.. my husband and 6 year old daughter Francesca.

Who is your holy grail dream client?

Oooh! That would be Lady Gaga, and Pink!

Editors Note: I first met Shanna at our first IMATS in January of 2017 when we were a featured vendor at Nigel Beauty Emporium’s booth (amazing store for pro-artists in North Hollywood). I had been to IMATS every year since 2012 to shop and learn as a makeup artist so I was a bit overwhelmed adjusting to the nearly instant success LHLA had in 2016. Shanna approached me and said she was a fan of our products and was later walking around with her model who was body painted head to toe and gleaming with our glitter all over her. It was the first time I had encountered my product “in the wild”. At the time, I had no assistants and was making every jar by hand myself in my garage which very few people were aware of. To have been recognized and appreciated by an artist like Shanna and to have been told first-hand how Spacepaste and Spacejam made her career as a body painter so much easier is something I’ll never forget (on top of selling through every single unit we brought with us within 2 hours)! Since then, Shanna has continued using LHLA to create the most epic Halloween looks and so I wanted her to be the first Artist Spotlight we post.
