MEET SAMUEL

How did you discover LEMONHEAD LA?

I discovered LHLA through my friends Zachary  and Caleb! They were both wearing Houdini and white rabbit and I was entranced.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LHLA PRODUCT?

My favorite LHLA product is Houdini!!! It’s the closest thing to magic on this earth.

When did you get into drag makeup?

I got into drag makeup when I was 12 years old. I found out who Rupaul was and decided to play around with my mom’s makeup. I had been playing with makeup long before then, but when I found out that I could completely bend gender, it was all over for me!

What/Who inspired your character, Gigi Goode?

My mom is a costumer, and Gigi Goode is inspired by all the fashion illustrations that are found on garment patterns- which I have been surrounded by since I was a wee little tot! Gigi isn’t a model, or a doll, she’s just an unrealistic fashion illustration

In your kit what product is the OG and what product is the new kid?

The one product that has never left my kit is an Elmer’s gluestick. It’s purpose has evolved over time but it’s allway stuck by my side! The new kid in my collection is LHLA Glitters! And I’m not just saying that. They have seriously changed the game!

What challenges you most as a makeup artist?

Makeup is my therapy. And the hardest thing about being a makeup artist is finding the time for it. I think that all makeup artists would agree when I say that I miss being able to do makeup for fun and without time constraint- but it doesn’t make it any less special each time I put it on now.

How do you find inspiration?

Inspiration is everywhere. I get asked this question a lot, and that is my easiest answer. I’m sitting on my floor looking at a pair of bright blue stockings- instantly my mind goes to “that would make a killer eyeliner color” all you have to do is open your mind to how to make these things stretch further in a creative setting!

What advice would you go back in time and give yourself?

I wish that I had showed people my makeup skills sooner. Nowadays, there are 12 year old boys in makeup getting recognized because they are finally comfortable to have a platform and to show the world who they want to be. I’m happy to see them in a place where I wish I could have been!

When you’re not working what is most important to you?

My mom is the most important thing in the world to me. Not only is she my biggest fan and supporter, she’s also my costumer. Most of the things I wear come from her two hands and I could not be any more grateful for that woman.
